Under the terms of the new National Contract, any locums working through a limited company are automatically entitled to an increase in their pay rate.

The exact increase a locum working through a limited company receives is dependant on which agency and limited company you work through, but a basic example is as follows:

Locum Consultant Anaesthetist working with DRC Locums through the PAYE system:
Net pay - £2,079.24 per week = £108,120.48 per year

Locum Consultant Anaesthetist working with DRC Locums through a limited company:
Net pay - £2,540.65 per week = £132,113.80 per year

(Increase in net pay of £461.41 per week or £23,993.32 per year)

Unfortunately, a number of accountants/organisations organising limited companies for locums have overcharged or left large tax liabilities.
