Snap election

Prime Minister, Theresa May, has called for an early election, three years before the election is due.

The reason behind her decision is to avoid a clash of priorities during the two-year Brexit talks. The Prime Minister won the support of 522 MPs in the 650-seat Parliament and an election has been scheduled for the 8th June.

Since the decision to have an early election was made, the opposition to leaving the European Union rose to 44 per cent, according to the latest YouGov figures.
